4/9/2017 – Salvation Is… Jesus – Pastor Steve Blayer

Salvation is…Jesus!

Mark 11:1-11 Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD (Hosannah = “Oh, save!”)

Luke 19:41-44 you did not recognize the time of your visitation. (episcope = Investigation, inspection)

> Israel’s leaders all thought it their job to Inspect Jesus, to see if he was Messiah. Little did they know that it was their turn for inspection.

THE ENTIRE CROWD RECOGNIZED THAT JESUS HAD COME “IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.” NONE OF THEM EVEN KNEW WHAT THAT MEANT. OUR EXPERIENCE OF JESUS IS LARGELY DETERMINED BY OUR REVELATION OF WHO HE IS.

Different participants were shouting Hosannah for different reasons…

Matthew 21 The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed…Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!

> Son of David – a mere human anointed by God to set up the Kingdom of Israel.

> Isn’t it interesting Jesus referred to himself as the son of MAN? ADAM…the seed…the LAST ADAM

Mark 11:10 Those who went in front and those who followed…Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David; Hosanna in the highest!”

> Israel was looking for a restoration of the “Good Old Days” when Israel ruled the surrounding nations through David’s exploits…Jesus was after a kingdom which is “not of this world,” where the PEOPLE would do all the exploits.

Luke 19:37-38 …the whole crowd of the disciples … for all the miracles which they had seen… “BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

> Even the disciples needed a revelation upgrade. They celebrated His miracles, but still did not under-stand His Kingdom.

John 12:12-13 the large crowd who had come to the feast…Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel.

> The crowd welcomed Jesus as their King, but just seven days later they would be shouting “Crucify Him!” Their inferior revelation made them turn on him.

Matthew 10:41 He who receives a prophet…a righteous man…

HOWEVER WE RECEIVE JESUS WILL DETERMINE WHAT WE CAN RECEIVE FROM HIM. A LIMITED REVELATION OF HIM WILL LIMIT THE REVELATION OF CHRIST IN AND THROUGH US.

.Phil 2:5-11

JESUS NO LONGER COMES MERELY IN THE “NAME OF THE LORD,” BUT HE IS THE LORD!

Colossians 1:15-19… (Pasion Translation)

HE DIDN’T COME JUST TO GRANT US ETERNAL LIFE AND IMPROVE OUR CONDITION HERE IN THE EARTH – HE CAME TO RESTORE EVERYTHING BACK TO HIMSELF, AND REINSTALL US AS THE RIGHTFUL HEIRS TO THE VERY INHERITANCE OF HEAVEN ITSELF!

Colossians 1:26-27
