Being a Good Host
Setting the table for His presence to come and LIVE with us…
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
Hosting the Presence of the Lord begins by responding to the invitation abide in His Presence, which in turn empowers us to prepare our hearts to be a suitable place for Him to abide.
In response to Philip’s query: Show us the Father…
John 14:15-24 he will keep My word…and We will come to him and make Our abode with him
Keep = guard/ treasure, keep an eye on something
To hear the word of God and be unresponsive to it is the most harmful response of all. we are better off being in outright rebellion than to engage in the passive rebellion of indifference, which is the opposite of love.
Parable of the two sons
John 15:14 “You are My friends if you do what I command you.
1 John 3:24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
All of the friends of God have one thing in common – they heard God’s word and believed Him, then responded in obedience with faith-full action.
What’s on the menu?
John 6:48-58
To eat Jesus’ flesh is to consume by faith all the benefits of His life to our own. To drink His blood is to consume by faith all the benefits of His blood sacrifice for us.
John 4:34
we receive the benefit of the nutrition within the foods we eat – so it is with Christ.
