He Satisfies our desire for good!
Genesis 3:1-6 DANGEROUS CONVERSATIONS
>- Speaking with the devil (or flesh, or temptations) without God present is dangerous.
has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’
>- He asks questions for which there is no rational answer. Undermines God, then poses his own answer. You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.
>- Flustered … now exaggerates the command to sound more restrictive (see Gen 2:16-17)
God knows … you will be like God,
>- They already WERE more like God than He ever would be!
Why didn’t they just ask God?!?
Pro 18:17 The first to plead his case seems right, Until another comes and examines him.
the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, >- How did that desire come there – how did she know the fruit would make her wise?!?
>- Every sinful (harmful) desire is a counterfeit for something God provides for us. THE HARDEST TEMPTATIONS TO RESIST ARE THE ONES WHICH ARE FOR THINGS WHICH SEEM “GOOD.” >- When God is not the one satisfying our desires with GOOD things, we grow distant from him. THEY WOULD HAVE DONE WELL TO Focus ON How GOD SATISFIES OUR DESIRES, AND RESCUES us FROM SETTLING FOR THE CHEAP SUBSTITUTES James 4:1-3 Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
Prov 13:12 … desire fulfilled is a tree of life
Psalm 103 HE SATISFIES OUR EVERY DESIRE
>- Unlike eve – take a look and see all the amazing OTHER trees in the garden
